Artist's Comments

Not as good I hoped... but I took about 10 photos of these hummingbirds... and this was one of the few that I liked. There are two more photos that are halfway decent... but there's always something ruining it... in one there's this perfect photo of the bird with it's beak in a flower, but there's a stupid twig that goes right across the head!

In case you're wondering, the hummer eventually did get to the flower... it did hover by the buds for a few seconds, which allowed for this photo.

Edit: I finally decided to update this with a newer crop... got rid of alot of the negative space above as suggested by quite a few people. The older version is still somewhere in my scraps.

I like too many things and get all confused and hung-up running from one falling star to another till I drop. This is the night, what it does to you. I had nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion. —Jack Kerouac

I actually haven't them make their bird call... but when they fly close to you it sounds like a really big bee. :)
They sometimes will fly up to you when you have a camera and buzz around the lens. I think the light reflecting from the glass makes them happy, or something...
Unfortunately it's too close to the lens to actually take a photo in focus though :D

I like it, you're a little harsh on yourself, nice composition and the sunlight on his back is nice too! and you got lucky with his wings too! I could have tried a hundred times and the wings wouldn't have been in that good a position! Bravo! :)
