Just a reminder about my 10,000 page view competition thing... only 50 or so to go. Still not sure what prize I'm going to give... but there will be a prize that I will send out/make/give/do to the winner. I've won too many of these little page view grab things where I haven't been given the promised prize. I'm not going to be like all those slackers :)

So, I originally posted this elsewhere, but I figured I had wasted productively spent too much time playing with this in Illustrator not to share it with you, my dear readers.
It was also probably about time for me to update this journal... more literary nerdiness :nerd:

Oh yeah!! :boogie: In your face boggle board!!!
how cool are those boggle words?!(the ones in the title of this journal, also shown with the colored arrows above)
How about, vane mine mint neat teen wane wean toke walk wake take lake talk
or mink veal zeal ? You guys see anything I missed? Has to be four or more letters.

So I posted a poll not too long ago and out of my 110+ watchers, a whole 8 people voted (1 of whom I'm certain doesn't even watch me). Anyway, the poll was about getting a print account, and after having a bad experience with Snapfish I've decided I'm going to take the plunge and just get one. treesofmachinery has ordered some stuff from dA and seems to approve so... what the hell. Besides, the prices are halfway decent, so I might just send out some prints as presents if nothing else.

Lets see, what else...

Brick. Great movie. Go see it. I've been describing it to people as late 1980s high school movie meets film noir. (Nouveau-noir high school movie?) It's really cheaply made, quick paced, witty and beautiful and what is really interesting is the crazy language. (Supposedly the director/writer was trying to channel certain aspects of Shakespeare.) Now, English is my first language, but there were times when I was tempted to turn on the English subtitles to just catch up with what they were saying so I could parse things. Once your brain has gotten used to it though it becomes easier. (Somewhat like watching Shakespeare, at least for me, it takes a brief adjusting period to acclimatize to the new (or old in this case) language) Interestingly enough there's no swearing, they make up completely new slang for everything else too... and it's not the standard substitutions like frick or frack for fuck... but a little more clever... and flows so well. So yeah, I know my description may not sound entirely appealing, but if you enjoy quick witted, low budget, mysteries that leave you scratching your head trying to completely understand everything that just played out... you'll most certainly like Brick.
Oh, and it's got that kid from 3rd Rock from the Sun, if that matters to anyone. He's really a pretty good actor, you should also see him in Mysterious Skin if you get a chance.

In other news, it appears that I'm approaching the 10,000 pageview milestone. I know I'm about 600 views away, but seeing as I'm slow to update this journal thing, it's now or never. Now, as much as I realize pageviews mean nothing etc etc... it still gives me a little bit of a kick. So to celebrate, I'm offering a yet to be determined prize (a print from my new print account? a sub? a fresnel lens helmet?) to the person who gets my 10,000th page view.
Just get a screen shot and note it to me or post it in your scraps or something along those lines.

I guess that's all for now.

Over and out.
